Fast and consistent internet access can be quite a problem for many residents in Bellvista. Residents in Arbour and Bells Reach have internet access via the NBN and have great speeds of 25MB and above and consistent access.
Some Bellvista residents are unable to even get ADSL access because of a shortage of ports available at local ‘boxes’ to accommodate the number of people who desire to be connected.
When connected other families can experience slow speeds, especially noticeable after 3 pm at school finish time.
In today’s world good internet access is a requirement for many families with teenage children desiring to ‘get online’ and the advent of streaming and other services.
In Bellvista, the majority of people have access to ADSL speeds of 8MB. However by the time the connection has gets to your home this speed can down to 6MB or lower. After school finishes, this can drop to even 3MB as more and more people come online. Many ADSL2+ areas outside Bellvista can access speeds of 20MB.
Recently BeCA sought feedback from residents who now have “Wireless Internet” and asked about the experience. It seems obvious that wireless internet is a real economical solution for Bellvista residents who require a minimum of 25MB access 24/7 at an economical cost. You can read this feedback below.
(a) I signed up with FlashFibres about 3 months ago and its been great. Prior to that I have been on a wireless connection with Optus and Telstra but you don’t get much download for the money you pay.
I had no option at that stage as there were no ADSL ports available.
When I found FlashFibres I switched to them straight away. I have dropped out a couple of times. But this has fixed its self by turning the modem on and off.
They are a friendly company to deal with and made it all happen quickly.
(b) We contacted FlashFibres last year (October I think) after seeing a post on Facebook. I found them very helpful on the phone and they were able to tell me straight away about coverage in the area. They sent a technician to our house to check if the reception would be suitable. All this happened in a matter of days. Once good reception had been confirmed we had the receiver installed and were up and running within the week.
We have their mid range package with unlimited download and the speed is great as we can run Stan on one TV, 3 of us can be on computers and my son running his PS4 over the Internet as well.
We have had only one problem when we lost coverage one day (on a Sunday) but once they were called on the Monday morning they sent someone out that same day and reconnected.
Very impressed with their customer service and their quick turnaround if we have any questions both via email and phone.
So Bellvista residents, a solution for poor internet is available to you. FlashFibres has now constructed a new wireless tower in Bellvista opposite Bellvista Market Place (see the photo above). This should ensure effective internet coverage is now available for all Bellvista residents.
Thanks to the two residents and their wonderful feedback. It is invaluable advice when you receive it from people who have experienced it first hand.
Be aware if you do need to switch from your current ADSL Broadband ISP you ideally should be ‘out of contract’.
