Council sub contractors have been busy across Bellvista adding mulch to garden beds on many roadside gardens.
The mulch will help to stop the growth of weeds and help the soil to retain moisture. Weeds have been quite a problem recently meaning Council workers have to repeatedly use spray to control them. Mulching should reduce this need.
BeCA has been requesting Council cut back on growth around several pathways across Bellvista, Bells Reach and Arbour. During the current pandemic, pathways have become a popular source for residents to exercise. It is not uncommon to see a parent pushing a pram while also monitoring to young kiddies on their bikes with training wheels.
Often there is a dog on a lead as well so wide uncluttered pathways are essential when young families meet with cyclists. Low hanging branches are a danger to cyclists causing them to adjust their course or duck to avoid contact with these branches.
