Just over two years ago two people thought that it would be a good idea for Caloundra West to have a Lions Club of its own. The Club was formed as a branch club affiliated to Lions Club of Sandstone Point and from then on has grown and grown. We are very proud to announce that Caloundra West is now a Chartered Club. To celebrate, their Charter Dinner is being held on 17th March at Pelican Waters Golf Club. They are expecting around 80 people to attend with various Lions and Community dignitaries joining them to celebrate this exciting occasion.
Members of the club are growing towards 30 which is a huge achievement in a just a couple of years. With the growth comes more opportunity for fund raising and the club are pleased that they are being recognised by different community groups as a means of assistance for those who need help going through difficult health and social issues.
Visitors are always welcome to join our monthly Club meetings held on the third Monday of each month at Bellvista Meeting Place, 18 Lomond Crescent, Caloundra West at 715pm. (The next meeting is Monday 19th March). For further information please call Lorraine Hendy our Membership Chairperson on 0419 248 548 or email email@example.com
Lions Club of Caloundra West – Lions Youth of the Year
It was a special opportunity as the first major event since Lions Club of Caloundra West became chartered to continue its involvement with the local community by hosting a local Lions Youth of the Year event. Interviews took place on Saturday 3rd March with two contestants namely, Emma McNee from Mountain Creek State High School and Rose Overland from Unity College and their formal interviews were conducted in private by Lions members and Community Judges. Both girls were well prepared for their interviews and both spoke eloquently.
The final judgement was made that Rose Overland would be our local winner and Rose now progresses to the regional final being held on Saturday 10th March at Caboolture.
Congratulations to both girls and specially to Rose as she proceeds to the next stage.
