A Verge Parking Working Group has been established.
The Verge Parking Working Group, consisting of council officers and Councillors, has been established to review the information, ideas, suggestions, strategies and options discussed at the February Workshop and to deliver the outcomes.
Parking information on council’s website has been updated and improved.
A dedicated parking information page has been created on council’s website to provide the community with a one-stop shop for information relating to parking. The webpage includes factsheets, information on residential parking, parking infringements and parking precincts, a parking issues register and references to abandoned vehicles.
New educational fact sheets have been developed.
The Working Group has developed a series of factsheets to strengthen community understanding of the parking requirements in residential areas, considering neighbours and general parking across the Sunshine Coast area. These are available on Councils website at the above link.
An information pack for real estate agents to provide to tenants has been circulated.
The Working Group has developed and distributed an information package to Sunshine Coast Real Estate Agents to help educate property owners and tenants on verge parking. The package includes factsheets on parking safely, considering your community and neighbours when parking and planning for your circumstances (e.g. share homes with multiple vehicles).
Moving forward, the Working Group will continue to investigate a range of medium and long-term parking outcomes that will benefit the community, including considering ways in which other local governments manage verge parking challenges and examining models and options that might be suitable for the Sunshine Coast. All findings and outcomes will be communicated to the community.
