Many wary drivers gave themselves a little extra time this morning to leave the estate owing to the loss of an exit lane at the top of Bellvista Blvd during roadworks. However this was still the line of traffic waiting to exit from Bellvista Blvd onto Caloundra Rd just after 8am.
The reintroduction of a much shortened left turn only lane has aided traffic movement.
Hopefully all the work will be completed shortly and drivers will have an easier time leaving and entering Bellvista Blvd.
A concern during the current situation is at the Dumbarton Drive/Bellvista Blvd intersection where Bellvista Blvd drivers queue across the roundabout denying access to traffic in Dumbarton Ave. A little courtesy by allowing a one by one merge entry into Bellvista Blvd would certainly ease driver stress levels yet keep traffic moving during these busy times.
BeCA has requested in future during similar circumstances that Stockland ensure there is Stop/Go Traffic Management personnel placed at this roundabout to assist with the movement of traffic during school drop off and pick up times.
BeCA contacted our Councillor today with two issues arising from Monday night’s Public Meeting. One issue was the shortage of rubbish bins ‘around’ the estate, especially for dog walkers who wish to place their ‘plastic bags’ of dog droppings into a bin rather than carry them all over the place. Currently there are only bins at Canavan Gracie Recreational Park. The second issue was on the repeat flooding of Dumbarton Ave following heavy rains and overflow from the nearby creek.
