BeCA has been informed that the new Baringa Tavern will open on October 30th. The new tavern is owned by Scott Armstrong whose company also owns the Bellvista Tavern and other Sunshine Coast hotels. BeCA has been invited to meet with Scott Armstrong to hear plans for the future of the Bellvista Tavern.
BeCA has been in contact with Translink regarding the proposed opening of the new dedicated bus route for Bellvista and Bells Reach. BeCA has expressed its frustration with the lack of any news. BeCA reminded Translink that elderly residents continue to struggle with walkers or heavy trolleys full of groceries on the up to 1 km trip to and from the new bus stop near the Dumbarton Drive roundabout.
Elderly residents are also expected to cross a busy Bellvista Blvd with their shopping as they are dropped off at the eastern side bus stop. This can be a dangerous exercise even for younger residents, let alone the elderly.
We have heard from Translink that arrangements are ‘progressing’. BeCA now understands the arrangements for new bus route and times have now been locked in. Some feedback is still required from us on the possible timing of the 4th daily service. BeCA has no details on this at the moment and is expecting to be contacted by a local Translink official with further options.
Feedback will be sought from BeCA and the community via our Facebook page when the alternatives become available.
Bike riders and walkers are well aware we are in the middle of magpie nesting season. Council has been installing signs to warn prospective walkers and riders of swooping magpies and to proceed with care!
