With Council Elections looming, it is time for BeCA to thank our current Councillor Rick Baberowski for his outstanding efforts in supporting this Community Association, as well as the Bellvista, Bells Reach and Arbour Communities.
Rick was first elected in 2012 when the seat was vacated by previous Councillor Anna Grosskreutz. During that candidate race, Rick visited almost every house in our area and spoke face to face with the occupants. It was during this time, BeCA reckoned we had a candidate who was prepared to walk that extra mile for our residents.
And from BeCA’s perspective it has been that way ever since.
Rick has attended the majority of BeCA’s Management Committee Meetings and Public Meetings. He has brought BeCA up to date on Council happenings and has listened to and acted upon many concerns raised by members.
Where ever possible he has been able to tap into the appropriate Council resources to ensure the work is done. As an example, concerns over Parks and Gardens led BeCA to meetings with Parks and Gardens Supervisors and a solution to the concern.
So far in 2020, BeCA has sought to have the fire break area between Bellvista and the Jill Chamberlain Reserve widened and maintained more regularly. This has now happened with maintenance now scheduled for at least 7 times per year. The small ugly strip between the veloways and footpaths is to be upgraded. Line of sight issues at local roundabouts are to be investigated and any improvements carried out.
BeCA has been able to guide residents who have required extra assistance to Rick to follow up on whenever he can. Rick’s support during the recent battle with Translink to have our bus service returned was welcomed.
The Youth Behaviour Management Forum at Baringa which Rick is organizing is showing positive outcomes for our communities.
Rick, from BeCA, may we thank you.
