At last night’s BeCA Public Meeting (attended by over 40 residents and guests) the Telstra Pit on the corner of Cougal Circuit and ORielly Drive was raised. The pit has a ‘temporary ill fitting plyboard covering’ and has had it since O’Reilly Drive was extended. It has remained an eyesore and a danger to residents. One child has hurt themself where the ill fitting plyboard leaves a nasty dangerous gap. BeCA approached the Council in November 2009 to have the pit cover fixed. In turn the Council approached Telstra and nothing was done about it. BeCA again approached the SCRC to have it fixed and again the SCRC approached Telstra. Again Telstra chose to ignore the problem. However this time they put up a temporary barrier cutting off much of the footpath. It has remained like this for months now! The SCRC has suggested that BeCA take the matter up directly with Telstra as they feel they are unable to do any more. When will Telstra fix this dangerous pit cover?
