Stockland recently applied to the SCRC to have some temporary signs erected along Bellvista Blvd promoting Bells Reach and advising prospective buyers that the IGA, Tavern and a range of other services were all available close by.
BeCA had anticipated this signage would have been of great benefit to local Bellvista Market Place businesses. Added signage and promotion of their business was a long time ‘sore’ point for them.
SCRC knocked back the signage application because of local laws restricting roadside signage.
BeCA has previously sought to have signage into and out of the estate upgraded as well as signage directing drivers to Bellvista Market Place. Again Local Laws have rejected any request as it says such signage would only serve to confuse motorists.
However they have recently bowed to pressure and installed two more signs directing motorists to the Shops. The first sign above left shows the “Shops sign” erected just before the entry to Bells Reach. An eye grabber for passing motorists it surely isn’t?
Is it any wonder that residents throw their hands up in the air and wonder just why rates are so high?
I am sure this sign would not confuse motorists, but why it should ever be placed there with the shops so clearly in view sure confuses residents!
