There are several issues which ‘bug’ Bellvista residents. Many of them are raised with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council via our Councillor. Today BeCA received a response from SCRC regarding one of those issues.
When children are returning home from school by bus one of the stops is in the intersection of Bellcarra Place and Bellvista Blvd. The bus pulls out of Bellvista Blvd and straddles the whole opening of Bellcarra Place to allow children off. This is an extremely dangerous situation. In the photo to the left this means the bus stops to allow students to alight ACROSS the entrance to Bellcarra Place.
BeCA forwarded its concerns in writing to our Councillor and attached this photo of the dangerous bus stop! Click on the photo above for a larger view. BeCA will consider any further action it may take at its next Committee Meeting on Monday October 4th.
Below you can read the response BeCA received!
As all residents know, the best way to solve this problem (and others) is to duplicate Bellvista Blvd to at least Dumbarton Avenue and incorporate a proper and safe bus stop.
BeCA is still awaiting a response to several other issues including emergency access to the estate and the dangerous pathway crossing at the foot of the hill on Bellvista Blvd. It is expected the additional playground equipment to suit under 5’s will be installed soon at the park opposite Tanna Villas in Rawson St as promised by Council. BeCA continues to await a SCRC response to the proposed new name for the park at the Bellvista Lake area. BeCA has proposed the park be renamed to Canavan/Gracie Park.
These issues were referred to in this June document which you can download and read.
