Biopods are installed in many areas of our estate. They are designed to help clean storm water prior to it entering the natural drainage system of creeks and lakes and eventually into the Pumicestone Passage. They utilize everything ‘natural’ to remove much of the waste products from storm water thus ensuring the waterways remain clean and don’t suffer from pollution.
They are an integral part of the design of the treatment of rainwater which falls on our estate. It is imperative they be kept clean of everyday waste and rubbish.
SCRC is currently cleaning many of the biopods around the estate in readiness for the upcoming storm season.
It appears some residents are using the biopods as areas where they can get rid of garden waste, especially lawn clippings. SCRC inform us that lawn clippings can severely clog biopods and slow down their work of cleaning stormwater and allowing it to travel quickly into surrounding waterways. SCRC implore Bellvista and Bells Reach residents not to dump lawn clippings or any other garden or household waste into biopods.
