BeCA has made inquiries with Sunshine Coast Airport Management regarding the sudden spike in helicopter activity over our homes and for further news on the establishment of the promised Interim Satellite Helicopter Training Facility.
We have been informed that Becker Helicopters has commenced a new round of helicopter pilot training.
This training is utilizing aerodromes all across the Sunshine Coast.
Becker Helicopters have been using Caloundra Aerodrome for up to two x 90 minute sessions daily, one session in the morning, the other during the afternoon.
Becker Helicopters will take a Christmas break from Dec 19th to Jan 5th.
Currently Sunshine Coast Airport has submitted a Development Application to the State Government which is currently being processed. This will facilitate possible operational works such as a ‘dummy runway’ to be created on the site.
Our Councillor Rick Baberowski has promised that BeCA will be informed immediately this application has been approved for implementation.
This is but an “Interim Solution”. Your Community Association will continue to press with our local MP Mark McArdle for the long term permanent option to be realized sooner rather than later.
BeCA will continue to keep the community informed on any developments regarding this issue.
