Road Safety will be the major focus of the upcoming BeCA Public Meeting to be conducted at the Bellvista Meeting Place, Monday June 6th at the earlier starting time of 6:30pm. All residents of Bellvista and Bells Reach are invited to attend.
Note the earlier start time is 6:30pm rather than the traditional 6:45 time spot.
A range of speakers will be presenting at the meeting and the opportunity to ask questions and make further suggestions will be available during the presentations. There will be a report on the outcome of traffic tube counters along Indigo Road and Bells Reach Drive and implications for further traffic control measures to be considered. There will also be reports from local residents on their response to recent incidents and proposed improvements.
Representatives will be present from Stockland, Queensland Police Service, Council and Unity College. Local MP Mark McArdle will also be present to discuss avenues for further funding opportunities for safety education. A ‘new’ supervised School Crossing into Bells Reach is being considered and there will be an update provided by Peter Baxter, Unity College P & F President.
Already some outcomes from recent discussions involving Stockland, road planners, Council and others have been put in place. The first major upgrade was the construction of several ‘teardrop’ traffic islands along Indigo Road and Bells Reach Drive. Click on the photo above for a larger view. The introduction of these traffic islands has already had an effect to slow vehicles using Indigo Rd and Bells Reach Drive.
Councillor Rick Baberowski will be in attendance and provide updates from Council’s perspective.
To round off the meeting and provide information for residents on another important date coming up in August, Peter Hovey will give a presentation from the Australian Bureau of Statistics on the upcoming 2016 Census which is due to be conducted on August 9th 2016.
But please note the earlier start time, 6:30pm rather than the traditional 6:45pm.
We look forward to a great attendance at this meeting to hear updates and provide feedback on this important local traffic issue.
