Becker Helicopters has re commenced repetitive circuits over our homes. These large Jet Ranger helicopters are very noisy and make life here in Bellvista and Bells Reach less than pleasant while doing their repetitive circuits.
BeCA has been in contact with our Councillor, Sunshine Coast Airport Management and our local MP on the resumption of repetitive circuits following the Christmas break. We continue to await the finalization of the final Development Application to be processed by Council for the temporary Satellite Training Facility to be put into use.
Cr Rick Baberowski has re assured us he is maintaining the pressure on relevant Council departments to have the final Application completed as soon as possible.
Sunshine Coast Airport Management is in regular contact with Becker Helicopters and an agreement has been reached to keep their repetitive circuits into Caloundra Aerodrome to a minimum. Becker Helicopters have a contract to train a certain number of pilots within a defined time frame meaning they have to use “ALL” aerodromes across the Sunshine Coast and environs. Caloundra is an aerodrome they must use if they are to complete their contractual obligations.
BeCA suspects that the agreement between Airpoprt Management and Becker Helicopters means a single helicopter per visit and that these visits will be ‘spread’ across the day with breaks between visits when possible.
Sunshine Coast Airport Management continue to liaise with Steve Dickson, the Minister for National Parks, Recreation, Sport & Racing, on the longer term solution. BeCA suspects the site for the long term site is situated around Bribie Island. With the recent announcement of the upcoming State Government election, government moves into ‘caretaker’ mode. As a result all discussions and decisions on the long term solution go into hibernation until a new Government is elected.
