A Bellvista resident has contacted BeCA regarding the reduction of services on the Bellvista Bus route timetable. It appears an early and a later service is to be cut.
The resident has contacted BeCA to report their concerns. The email to BeCA is reproduced below:
I have sent the following complaint and subsequent objection to Translink about the forthcoming reduction in bus services to Bellvista and Bells Reach. As a new resident to the area (we moved here in May) I felt that although the bus service (603) was just adequate it at least did provide some public transport into the area. I used this service on a regular basis whilst setting ourselves up in our new home and was impressed with the effectiveness and friendliness of the drivers. The only downside to the current service is that there is only one bus an hour and it stops at 6pm for a service that is meant to provide for two main communities, a school, two child care centres (Bambini’s and the Early Childhood Centre in Little Mountain) and two Retirement / Community Villages.
I was more than dismayed to find out that not only were Translink not intending to increase the service but that they also planned to remove the 6.00pm service!
There are several reasons why this is detrimental to the local residents and people who utilise this service, most of which I have outlined in the attached copy of the letter I sent to Translink. On top of these concerns it is well understood that a good public service can also increase the value of houses in the area.
I am sure that you are already well advanced in complaining to Translink about this cut in service and hope that my letter will assist with any objection to Translink that you are planning.
I am not in a position to do so but feel that rallying all of the businesses, who rely on this bus service as the sole public transport to their offices, and local people to send in similar letters to mine to complain about this reduction to Translink may add credence to maintaining the service and possibly increasing it.
The content of the official complaint letter to Translink is available for download HERE. It is in Word (.doc) format. Feel free to add your own details if you too wish to lodge a complaint.
