BeCA has been informed of some inappropriate behaviour at Quinn Park at Bells Reach. Some unsupervised children were seen smashing bottles around the play equipment over the weekend. Regretfully an unsuspecting child suffered a cut from the broken glass.
Stockland were informed and took immediate action to clean the area up and make it safe for all again.
As a further step to arrest this type of behaviour from unsupervised children, security at the park will be upgraded to ensure all can enjoy the facilities safely.
Traffic chaos occurred during school drop off time this morning when preparations and lane closures for an upcoming concrete pour for the new median strip at the extension of the left turn lane at the top of Bellvista Blvd took place this morning. The lane closure and detour appeared to be the reason for traffic slow down. Some eye witness reports received by BeCA indicated that the pour started prior to 8:30, well and truly within school drop off times.
BeCA is aware that concrete pours have to happen when the trucks supplying the concrete arrive at the scene.
BeCA immediately contacted Stockland to alert them to the situation and also called the police as drivers tempers became frayed. A police car did attend during the morning and another will be in attendance during this afternoon’s peak as well.
Traffic was banked up all the way from Bellvista Blvd/Caloundra Rd down to the Bellvista Market Place shops causing huge delays for everyone.
That Sunshine Coast Council decided to carry out road crack repairs during the same time did not assist the situation.
BeCA spoke with the Council workers and suggested they keep away from the school precinct. This suggestion was only partly accepted and they continued to do work around Balmoral Blvd, an alternative route used by many during the busy school drop off period.
There would have been a lot of lost tempers around the area this morning.
The photo above was taken at the Grampion Place/Lomond Cres roundabout during the traffic chaos as cars leaving the school precinct completed a U-Turn via the roundabout. Click on the photo for a larger view.
