Further site works for Bells Reach’s new Parkside Cafe appear to be almost complete. The photo left (click on the photo for a larger view) give a hint as to what the new facility will be like. January 2014 remains earmarked as the opening date for the new cafe and other buildings.
The few B-Doubles currently still using Bellvista Blvd should be banished from our roads sometime later this week. These trucks are dumping material for the retail site adjacent the display village. The final material should all be delivered this week. Bellvista and Bells Reach residents will be pleased when these large vehicles are removed from our roads. Not only do they create a traffic problem especially during school pick up and drop off times, but their massive weight must be having an impact on the tenuous condition of Bellvista Blvd.
It was BeCA’s understanding that the Haul Rd was built to cover for these very situations and keep large vehicles off Bellvista/Bells Reach roads.
The mere 1ml of rain received overnight into Monday is hardly enough to settle the dust. Unfortunately Bells Reach residents are right in the firing line for dust off the newer Bells Reach stages as the winds remain strong and predominately from the north.
BeCA will be making representation to local MP Mark McArdle on the establishment of a Helicopter Satellite Training facility later this week. Such a facility would remove the vast majority of repetitive circuits by helicopters over our homes. Though this facility was a major recommendation arising from the recent Caloundra Aerodrome Master Plan, BeCA remains unconvinced of any progress at this stage in the negotiations apparently occurring between the Sunshine Coast Airport Management and the State Government.
As more and more residents pour into the Sunshine Coast and Caloundra South, the behaviour of helicopters over our homes will effect more and more residents. Not only is there a safety factor but there is a quality of life issue as well.
BeCA representatives will seek an update from Sunshine Coast Airport Management at the Caloundra Aerodrome Forum Meeting regarding any negotiations with the State Government on this issue on Wednesday evening in Council’s Caloundra offices.
