One of the earliest projects that BeCA took on was the unsafe crossing point at the foot of the hill on Bellvista Blvd. Early in Bellvista’s development one of our disabled residents had a motorised chair. It was a daily challenge for this resident just to safely cross Bellvista Blvd! And prior to the footpath being built between Bellcarra Place and Caloundra Rd, this disabled resident had to motor up the hill on Bellvista Blvd itself just to get to Caloundra Rd.
BeCA has lobbied long and hard to have the new safer crossing point built which gives pedestrians and cyclists a much safer spot to cross busy Bellvista Blvd.
SCRC workers were today removing the ‘old’ crossing point which was still being used by some residents despite its obvious danger.
The old crossing point will be fenced off and new turf laid once the old concrete footpath has been removed.
