A quick reminder that nominations for the 2018 BeCA Management Committee close on Monday Oct 21st at 4pm. Completed nominations may be left with the secretary or at the offices of The Positive Property People, beside the Bellvista Market Place IGA.
BeCA has raised its concerns with Council regarding the maintenance of some parks in Bells Reach and Aura. Management of these parks has been handed over from the developer Stockland to Council. Council says recent wet weather has thrown the mowing roster into chaos meaning many parks are looking the worse for wear as the photo above indicates. However the park in Violet St Bells Reach (still being maintained by Stockland) is bowling green smooth after a recent cut. All edges are neat and tidy!
Note that BeCA does not expect Council’s resources to extend to maintaining all Bells Reach Parks to the same level as Stockland did. Stockland has a financial motive to keeping everything looking its best for sales purposes. There is no way Council will be able to afford the expense of maintaining Stockland’s level of care.
Bellvista/Bells Reach recorded around 200mls in the recent rain event filling the lakes and giving the parks and gardens a well deserved water. With more rain forecast to come we may have to get used to long grass and ragged edges!
BeCA has received some calls regarding the roundabout at Emerald Drive and Bellvista Blvd. Pedestrians have reported some near misses as traffic exiting Emerald Drive and seeing Aura Blvd to the right is clear via a clear line of sight, can enter the intersection at some speed. As the photo shows, line of sight for both motorists and pedestrians is limited by the high fence. BeCA will suggest that a “Slow” sign be situated there to remind motorists of the need to drive carefully.
Emerald Drive is becoming an alternative drop off and pick for school children via the rear entry into Unity College. This, associated with families walking to and from school make this intersection dangerous.
