There is a lengthy post on the BeCA Facebook Page from the local resident who contacted Australia Zoo regarding an injured cygnet. The poster confirms that she was informed by Australia Zoo that the injured cygnet was suffering from an eel bite.
Australia Zoo reported that this is an all too common occurrence around lakes here on the Sunshine Coast at this time of year.
Thanks to the poster for clarifying what happened.
This is mother nature at work unfortunately.
