Ever since O’Reilly Drive was first constructed, the footpath between Maroon Crt and Huntley Place has been ‘missing’. The footpath just stopped, awaiting the final 80 metres or so of concrete to be laid. But it never was.
This forced pedestrians onto O’Reilly Drive when the grass was wet and muddy and was especially dangerous for those getting to a nearby bus stop!
But that is all about to end with Council beginning works today!
BeCA has been requesting that Cr Baberowski get the work done but previously a shortage of funds has prevented this happening.
Cr Baberowski has also said there was a good possibility the playground shade area on Rawson Street would be extended. Council added extra play equipment some years ago now but the shade cloth wasn’t large enough to cover it from the hot afternoon sun. This made the metal play equipment extremely hot to young hands.
BeCA will continue to keep residents updated on any progress with this project.
