Member for Caloundra Mark McArdle is urging the local community to have their say on a proposed new primary school at Caloundra South.
It comes as the Department of Housing and Public Works have been engaged, on behalf of the Department of Education and Training, to designate land located on Bellvista Blvd, Caloundra West and Bells Creek Road for the proposed school.
“I welcome the initiative to create a new school to cater for the major surge in population Caloundra will experience in the future,” Mr McArdle said.
“However I strongly encourage people and key stakeholders to review this proposal as soon as possible, particularly taking note of the proposed school’s location and its proximity to the Caloundra Aerodrome.
“The issue of complaints from neighbouring suburbs regarding flight paths, noise and safety concerns from the adjoining Aerodrome, which was built first in 1931, has been a constant battle between all stakeholders involved.
“I encourage people to please look at the proposal and submit their feedback in writing to the Town Planner as soon as possible.”
