BeCA has received a report from a resident regarding a recent attack they underwent from a stray dog which had escaped from its yard. The couple were walking their small pet dog on a leash at the time when it was attacked and killed by the stray dog.
The husband was attacked as well and forced to the ground. Local Laws officers eventually took the stray dog under their control where it will be assessed and its future determined.
Council Local Laws say no dog should be in any public place unless it is on a leash.
BeCA passes the following link on to dog owners at the request of the couple who have lost their pet for the information of all.
With dog (or any pet) ownership comes a responsibility for the owner over the behaviour of that pet.
Pets can be great company and joy for many in our community and BeCA fully supports responsible pet ownership.
