Lucinda from the charity ” Share the Dignity” was the guest speaker at the September meeting of The Caloundra West Lions Club. Share the Dignity is a charity that supports homeless women by supplying them with basic personal hygiene products. As a club it was agreed that this would be one of their charities for the year and they have committed to donate $2000 spread out over 4 campaigns.
Caloundra West Lions appealed through their Facebook page for donations and Lani from Positive Property People agreed that they could place a pink bin outside their Positive Property People office at Bellvista Market Place for collections. Together with a generous discount from IGA Bellvista, the Lions were able to purchase boxes of hygiene products to donate. The next Lions campaign is for donations of handbags filled with items such as soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, wet-wipes, deodorant, cotton wool, moisturizer, in fact anything that will be to use as an everyday item.
This would be a luxury item for many of these women in the community who will receive them as a Christmas Present.
If you would like to donate a handbag with or without contents, please either drop them into the pink bin in Bellvista Market Place by 25th November or call Lion Sue 0424 338 272 and she will be happy to collect anything you may have to donate. Caloundra West Lions thank everyone in advance for all continued support.
Visitors are always welcome at the Caloundra West Lions Club meetings held on the 1st Wednesday of the Month at Parklands Tavern from 6.30pm.
