The vast majority of the red azolla has been removed from both lakes at Canavan Gracie Recreational Park in readiness for the Park’s “Official Opening” on Saturday March 23rd at 11:30. All residents from both Bells Reach and Bellvista are invited to attend.
To remove 100% of the azolla would mean totally clearing the lake of all plants. This isn’t a reasonable option.

A “Free Tree Day” will be run in conjunction with the “Official Opening”. In the past residents have been asked to present a rates notice to be eligible for a free tree. SCRC horticultural advisors will be in attendance to offer assistance.
Members of the Gracie family and the The June Canavan Foundation will be in attendance. Cr Rick Baberowski will over see the proceedings.
The Sunshine Coast Daily has indicated they will be providing a report on the event in the Newspaper.
