The lake has not been looking its best recently with lots of red algae taking over. The lake has been inspected by SCRC and has been found to be in great condition. However the cosmetic aspect of the lake needs improving. Previously Council had advised the lake really needed several ‘inches’ of rain to give it a good flush out. All ‘man made’ lakes on the Sunshine Coast are currently suffering from this same cosmetic problem BeCA has been told.
Our lake is definitely looking much worse lately. So following discussion between BeCA’s Landscape Sub-Committee Chairperson Paul Harrison and SCRC Waterways, it has been decided the lake will be ‘netted’ sometime in the next fortnight to remove much of the unsightly algae. However, unless it is flushed out, the unsightly red algae will return in due course. Netting will only improve the look of the lake and not solve the problem.
