BeCA conducted its monthly meeting last night (Monday July 1st). This meeting was a Management Committee Meeting.
Currently the BeCA Management Committee has a vacancy with the recent departure from Bellvista of one of its committee members. It is expected this vacancy will be filled at the AGM due to be conducted at the Old Land Sales Office, Lomond Cres on Monday August 5th at 6:45 pm. All nominations can be made via a nomination form available HERE or the position can be filled ‘on the night’ from those present.
Written nominations close at 4pm on Monday July 22nd. After completing the nomination form, please call our secretary on 0498 266 059 (or other contact info) for an address to deliver your nomination.
The focus for the AGM to be conducted at the Old Land Sales Office, Lomond Cres on Monday August 5th at 6:45 pm is the future of the Old Land Sales Office as a possible future Bellvista Community Centre. BeCA is keen to gain community feedback on the types of activities residents would like to see occur at the proposed centre and what groups residents would like to see using the facility. A sheet for resident input will be available at the AGM. You can also make your views known via the BeCA Facebook page via the link at the foot of this page.
BeCA continues to monitor the condition of Bellvista Blvd noting the time taken from reporting a pothole to its being repaired. At this stage it is less than 48 hours until a repair has been completed. Recent consistent rain has not helped the response time.
The Bellvista Business Trade Directory is almost ready for printing. This not a major fund raising activity for BeCA and BeCA endeavours to keep all costs to a minimum. It is expected the BeCA Business Trade Directory will provide residents with a list of Bellvista based businesses or to businesses with strong links to Bellvista. BeCA is conscious of the quality of the directory to be delivered to all homes in Bellvista and Bells Reach. A volunteer group “Gateway Care” is doing the design and printing of the directory. BeCA has decided on a donation to be made to Gateway Care for their marvelous work. Businesses which have provided accurate information on what they wish to have included in the directory and have been accepting of the completed proposal have made things easier for BeCA.
The de-amalgamation of the SCRC may have an impact on the Gardening Team monitoring and maintaining the parks and gardens around the estate. BeCA is hopeful the status quo will be retained.
As a condition of Stockland providing 40 new chairs for BeCA at the Old Land Sales Office, BeCA will be making the chairs available for hire at $1 per day per chair via the Open Shed website. Before completing the commitment to Open Shed, BeCA will be confirming what avenues are available if any chair is damaged or misplaced by the hirer. Profits from hiring will go to Open Shed and towards a Bicycle Repair Station to be located somewhere at Canavan Gracie Recreational Park.
BeCA has received a proposal to have a post box and a public telephone placed at Bellvista Market Place (BMP). Previously BeCA has unsuccessfully inquired about placing a Post Box at the Market Pace. The request was rejected by Australia Post as the current postal box on Lomond Cres satisfies Australia Post’s criteria. Australia Post continue to monitor the situation.
BeCA believes public telephones are slowly being removed rather than installed as the world moves more and more to digital phone usage. Bellvista Tavern has confirmed that anyone wishing to have a cab called or with a similar request has usually been completed by Tavern staff at no charge.
BeCA would support any BMP business wishing to add a public telephone service.
Recently BeCA received a request from a resident regarding a problem they were having with a neighbour. BeCA does not intervene in these disputes. BeCA fully supports that neighbours take all opportunities to amiably and non-aggressively discuss concerns with those involved and attempt to come to a mutually agreed outcome. However criminal or major local laws issues should be directed to the authorities.
The meeting closed at 8:10pm.
