BeCA has received a response from Sunshine Coast Airport Management in relation to its recent concerns regarding the re emergence of numerous visits by Becker Helicopter Services and repetitive circuits over resident homes.
A section of the response appears below:
The Sunshine Coast Airport has had an increase in circuit training as well recently and our understanding is that it is in line with the recent commencement of new student pilots. There will always be a component of pilot training that requires the usage of an aerodrome, however as the training continues that requirement diminishes whilst the requirement to fly longer sorties to other destinations to test navigation and other skills increases.
Had BeCA had known there was a new program for student pilots this knowledge would have provided an explanation as to what is happening.
BeCA is hopeful of an opportunity to meet with Becker Helicopter Services and relay our concerns in a mannerly face to face fashion. BeCA believes this would improve communication between the two groups and help everyone to fully understand the situation.
It would have been advantageous to everyone had we received some notice of increased flights. It would also be great if we had regular updates on the frequency and dates of future training sessions.
