Stockland is celebrating this occasion with a small ‘Handover Ceremony”. Guests will be at Stockland’s invitation.
Prior to the agreement being reached that the building would become a community facility under the ownership of the Sunshine Coast Council, BeCA was consulted regarding the possible layout and what facilities should be included in the final plans.
It was suggested that ‘concertina’ doors be included to close off areas to allow different groups to use the building at the same time. It was also believed that with a Public Toilet block nearby, the current toilet arrangements could be modified so a storage area could be created.
Reasonable kitchen facilities were an imperative to further expand the building’s attraction and usability to prospective hirers.
There has been no further consultation with BeCA regarding the building’s layout. BeCA understands there will be financial constraints in the current economic climate but remains hopeful its suggestions have been included in the final layout.
The Community Meeting Place will be available for BeCA’s Public Meeting with local MP Mark McArdle at 6:45 pm on Monday September 1st, the first BeCA community function in the new building. All are welcome.
Whatever the final layout is, the facility will be a marvelous addition to the Bellvista and Bells Reach communities.
