The major concern was over the deterioration in the condition of the many gardens around the Bellvista estate. It appears the gardens have been in maintenance mode for some time getting a trim here and a weeding there as required. Now it appears an overall decent clean out is required to get things back to a pristine condition.
The photo above shows a garden area which was recently cleaned out with all lower limbs being severely pruned allowing the removal of any rubbish from underneath.
The photo below it shows an area of garden which has been frequently trimmed back’ but now requires a good clean out.
Bells Reach gardens are currently all maintained by Stockland’s own gardening teams. They do a wonderful job to keep things looking in top condition to impress home buyers. The better the area looks, the more likely a prospective home buyer will purchase.
After a period of time Sunshine Coast Council will take over the maintenance responsibilities for all Bells Reach parks and gardens. Council does not have the resources available to maintain grounds and gardens to same high level as Stockland does.
In the past Bellvista has enjoyed a quality highly motivated team of Council Gardeners. They worked the area for some time and took great pride in what they did and strived to keep the gardens looking great.
Regretfully these workers have moved on to be replaced by a worker here and another there. Many have been in the area for only a few weeks and have not had time to develop that pride and sense of ownership of the job which develops over a period of time.
BeCA is seeking a meeting with the Parks and Gardens Supervisor (also new to the position) to see if we can achieve higher level of permanency and commitment of staff appointed as our local gardening team. We seek a responsible motivated team leader and similarly motivated worker to complete the duo.
In the immediate term, we seek that all gardens in Bellvista get a decent cleanout so any new team has a better base point to work from.
The other point of interest arising from this final meeting was an exchange of views on what needs to be done to work towards alleviating the amount of traffic using Bellvista Blvd during school peak times and what can be done to remove traffic from Caloundra Rd prior to any further development of Caloundra South..
BeCA representatives have a meeting with an advisor to the Minister of Roads in the state Government later this week.
