SCRC Division Councillor elections were declared yesterday with Rick Baberowski elected as the new Councillor for Division 1. Former popular councillor Anna Grosskreutz did not stand in this election.
Rick has already worked closely with BeCA as he has attended BeCA Committee Meetings and Public Meetings. Therefore he is fully aware of the issues effecting Bellvista residents. Areas such as Bellvista and some sections of Little Mountain fall into Division One. However the major section of the Division is around Beerwah and Landsborough, so to have a Councillor who has already showed a commitment to Bellvista is a positive sign for this community.
Candidate Anne Ross also put in a lot of time with BeCA and this community. Other candidates did attend a BeCA Public Meeting but had little or no other contact with your Community Association.
Just before the elections, BeCA distributed its email to the SCRC on the condition of Bellvista Blvd to all candidates. It was interesting to see that following the email’s distribution one candidate took up this issue as his major focus for securing votes from this area.
Rick has been invited to attend Monday Night’s BeCA Public Meeting, 6:45pm at the Old Land Sales Office in Lomond Cres. Also attending that meeting will be SCRC representatives to speak on Positive Ageing and Youth Services portfolios. We will also have representatives from Stockland who will provide an update on the happenings at Bells Reach. And of course there will be “General Business” where residents can raise their own issues.
