Bellvista is in Division 1 of the upcoming SCRC Councillor Elections to be conducted this Saturday. Our nearest voting venue will be at Unity College. Voting for the position of SCRC Mayor will also be conducted at the same time and venue.
You can access much of the information regarding the Division 1 candidates HERE.
BeCA has attempted to liaise closely with all candidates and has attempted to pass onto them the concerns and needs of this community.
BeCA will not be recommending that you support any one candidate but that you as a concerned resident should make your own decision on who you should support. However BeCA will provide you with information on which candidates have become involved with BeCA to find the real issues which effect residents. It should also be stated that some candidates announced they were standing well before the official nomination date so therefore had more time to discuss issues with BeCA.
Both Ann Ross and Rick Babarowski have attended Public Meetings both late 2011 and early 2012. Both Rick and Ann have attended BeCA Committee Meetings both late 2011 and early 2012 to listen in on issues discussed. It is interesting to note that some of BeCA’s recommendations have been included in policy statements by both of these candidates.
All 5 candidates for Division 1 have made presentations at BeCA Public Meetings.
BeCA President Les Thomas reports he had an lengthy phone call from Mayoral Candidate Warren Blees to discuss Bellvista issues. Les has had some email contact from Debbie Blummel on issues relating to Caloundra Airport.
Whoever the successful Division 1 candidate may be, BeCA is hopeful of having them attend our next BeCA Public Meeting at the old Land Sales Office at 6:45 PM on Monday May 14th. Please make careful note of this Public Meeting date as it isn’t on the traditional ‘1st Monday’ of the month as it is a holiday and we don’t have access to chairs from the school for our meeting.
