From time to time BeCA receives emails via its website. One resident forwarded the email below. I have edited it slightly. (Hopefully my editing will be with the approval of the original writer!)
One thing the email does indicate is that not all Bellvista residents see the noise from aircraft a problem.
The email appears below:
Good morning, I am not usually one to complain, but I am now! We have been Bellvista residents for 8 years. My husband and I built our first home in O’Reilly Drive, and our second (current one) in Northbrook Street..
I enjoy reading our Bellvista newsletter……but enough is enough!
We are soooooo sick of reading about whinging people complaining about the airport noise. Enough already!!!! I totally agree with their statement ‘we were here first’…..indeed they were. Like I said, we have lived here for 8 yrs, it doesn’t bother us. We bought here fully aware of the airport being in close proximity.
Would it be the older residents from across the estate complaining? Did they not realise when they bought their home or their unit, they were buying near an airport? Living in O’Reilly Drive, we were there when the retirement village was being built! You can’t tell me the older residents didn’t notice the planes and helicopters then…..they were always there.
No one will win against the government in trying to move the airport. Best the whingers just suck it up and get on with life. If a noisy airport is all they have to complain about, they’re doing well!
Do you think we could ease up on the complaints about the airport in the newsletter and find some positive things to write about?
For example….the constant struggling IGA has now picked up sales by 11% since the opening of the tavern. There were major staffing problems due to poor over turn, but now sales have picked up, the store is afforded more staff…..less waiting time for customers. The tavern itself is doing a roaring trade, with the carpark, all but full, every night of the week. The lady who spends most mornings picking up litter on the side of the road….I bet she gets no thanks for it. But I say ‘good on her’ and ‘thank you’.
Above all, I love our estate…..noise and all…..
