It appears that CASA, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, has responded to numerous concerns from local residents regarding noise and safety issues arising from residents’ reports of pilot behaviour and repetitive circuits by helicopters.
A Bellvista resident received a phone call recently from a CASA representative following concerns he had raised with them regarding helicopter safety and noise.
The subject of noise and safety will be raised at the next Regional Airspace and Procedures Advisory Committee (RAPAC). It is believed that all local aerodrome management, council representatives and major business stakeholders will be in attendance.
The email received states that CASA is undertaking to raise the subject (of safety and noise at Caloundra Aerodrome) at the next Regional Airspace and Procedures Advisory Committee (RAPAC) to be held in Brisbane on the 9th of April. During that meeting CASA will explore what operational changes can be applied to alleviate the noise.
CASA are to extend the discussions with the Airservices-Noise Complaints and Information Service (NCIS) in a collaborative manner to discuss the noise issues that have been raised.
