BeCA representatives are attending a Special Airport Forum Meeting this evening.
At the last Airport Forum meeting, BeCA representatives requested of Peter Pallot that a Helicopter Satellite Training Facility be included in the Draft Masterplan. The Helicopter Satellite Training Facility is still on SCRC agenda but hasn’t been included in the Masterplan as the facility will not be on the Airport site. The Masterplan is to map out a possible future for the Caloundra Airport site alone.
The Draft Masterplan makes mention several times of the doubling of movements in and out of Caloundra Airport and a resultant increase in noise effecting both Caloundra South and Bells Reach. The Masterplan does not provide any solution to address this increase in noise.
BeCA believes its suggestion of a satellite helicopter training facility would address the increase in noise.
