It is a little over 12 months ago that the scene from the photo above was a reality for many Caloundra West residents. A fire which seems to have begun from the Bruce Highway roadside fanned by strong winds seemed headed for Little Mountain, Baringa and Bellvista.
It was a time when some residents packed their bare essentials and headed to Safe Places to wait out the fire. Fortunately there was no damage to homes but a message to everyone was cast on being prepared for future bushfire emergencies.
With this in mind BeCA has arranged for representatives from Council and the Qld Fire and Emergency Services to provide a Storm and Fire Season Information session. From this we will learn of updated information to residents following the review of action arising from last year’s fire. It should be an informative and valuable session.
Councillor Baberowski will provide an update on Council’s happenings, especially relating to items relevant to our community. There will also be a neighbourhood police update.
It has been flagged to BeCA there will be residents in attendance who wish to raise the aircraft noise issue as well.
So it will be an informative and interesting session for all.
The Meeting gets underway at 6:45pm on Monday, September 3rd at the Bellvista Meeting Place, Lomond Cres Bellvista, right beside the lakes. Alla re invited to attend.
You are welcome to stay back after the meeting for your face to face opportunity with any of our presenters.
See you there.
