BeCA will hold an Extraordinary Management Committee Meeting next week to discuss the closure of numerous bus stops in Bellvista and Bells Reach. A meeting with representatives from Translink has been mooted to allow them to explain why the bus stops were closed. BeCA President Les Thomas commented that BeCA was really only interested in having the stops included again on the new 606 bus route. He added that closing the stops was a mistake and has severely disadvantaged many residents.
Cr Baberowski will also be in attendance and BeCA has invited a representative from Bellcarra Retirement Village to attend as well.
BeCA will discuss what future steps it will take in relation to this issue. A strongly worded statement to Mark Bailey, the Minister for Transports and Main Roads, has been suggested to express BeCA’s bewilderment at the move.
BeCA may extend an invitation to Translink Representatives to speak at an upcoming Public Meeting.
