BeCA is now hearing that some Bellvista Fibre To The Node (FTTN) connections have gone live as of today as well. Some may have gone live over the last few days. FTTN connections had been promised to go live’ by November 1st. The vast majority of Bellvista residents have an FTTN connection.
Speed tests for residents on 50MB connections conducted over both new FTTC and FTTN connections are getting results around 46MB or 47MB.
Bellvista Telstra customers who have retained their landlines report you just plug the phone into their new smart modems and all works fine. BeCA heard today of a phone call to a resident’s home from Telstra, indicating their NBN connection was now live.
Telstra FTTN customers going to NBN don’t have to do anything except unplug their current phone connection, disconnect their ADSL filter, and plug the phone connection into their new smart modem.
BeCA is not aware of how thr process is progressing for non Telstra customers.
BeCA has heard reports that some Bells Reach Telstra customers have noted a substantial drop in speed. The reason given by Telstra is because of all the new Bellvista NBN connections going online. As the system across the area is upgraded, this speed should return to ‘normal’ very soon.
