Gill Luke told last night’s BeCA Public Meeting that they now expect their “Luke’s IGA Supermarket” to open about Dec 12th. A flooring hold up had cost them valuable time as they are as keen as residents for the store to open and begin trading. All other businesses are now operating and open for business. Dr Greenwood is available for consultations despite Telstra still not having connected their broadband connection.
There will be an “Official Opening” on a date to be decided for the Bellvista Market Place Shopping Centre. Local radio stations will be in attendance and a fun day is planned to mark the opening. We will bring you further news on this as it becomes available.
BeCA President Paul Harrison met with the Bellvista Market Place Site Manager this morning to further discuss issues relating to the carpark lights and the effects this has on neighbours. The Site Manager said solving the problem was ‘do-able’, it was just a matter of determining the best solution.
The first stage will be to place baffles on the lights near the back fences of residents to deflect light away from their homes. In original planning it was not expected that carpark lighting would be projected into homes. The Site Manager was going to contact the lighting manufacturers and determine the most appropriate baffle solution. These would then be ordered, delivered and installed. This could take up to 14 days (or more) to complete.
Then if necessary further work would be carried out on the main ‘central’ light. However things needed to be done one stage at a time.
