BeCA has been informed by Stockland that the Bells Reach Drive/Bellvista Blvd/Stornaway Drive – Intersection Upgrade Works have been delayed due to the rain events associated with Cyclone Marcia over the past week.
Their principal contractor, Shadforths undertook the necessary preparations to protect the site and it was relatively undamaged.
Work has resumed this week with the upgrades to the Dumbarton and Stornaway roundabouts almost complete. Stockland are still waiting for street lighting to be installed and some of the landscaping to be redone due to the heavy surface rainfall runoff over the weekend.
With regard to the Bellvista Boulevard/Caloundra Rd Intersection works, Stockland have informed us all the bulk earthworks have been completed and the rock wall finished. The majority of the kerbing and road pavement has been installed. Work on the median strip and the management of stormwater within the existing road carriageways will likely be starting within the next week (weather pending) and will involve some work under redirection of lanes and stop and go traffic control which will be done outside of peak travel times.
The remaining work to be finished is the electrical and landscaping which will be progressively undertaken over the coming weeks. At this stage Stockland expect all the works to be finished by end of March – subject to weather of course!
