Following a concern raised by a Bells Reach resident regarding the condition of a roadside garden near the family home, BeCA has requested Council conduct an audit of all roadside gardens in the Bells Reach area and where necessary, owing to unkempt condition, that these gardens be replaced with turf.. Turf ensures any future maintenance is fast and inexpensive. It is more likely a resident would take a moment or so to run the mower over the area when mowing their own lawn if the garden area has been turfed.
As the photos above and below show, the condition of several of these gardens leaves a lot to be desired.BeCA advised the resident with the roadside garden concern above to forward a “Service Request” from their online MyCouncil Dashboard to have the garden near their residence attended to. Land owners can easily access the MyCouncil website (Google MyCouncil) and create your MyCouncil Account. Below is a copy of the “My Dashboard”. Now Click on the link “Lodge a request for service” and lodge your request there. In a return email you will receive a Reference Number which you can use for any follow up which may be required.A strong public voice is required at the upcoming Public Meeting where Council’s Parks and Gardens representatives will be in attendance. A strong vocal voice should ensure a marked improvement in the level of garden maintenance for those communities.
