Councillor Rick Baberowski has posted that work has commenced to address the line of sight issue at Aqua Cct and Indigo Road in Bells Reach. Council is taking a staged approach to addressing the problem until the situation has been rectified to Council’s standards.
Stage 1 will see a general pruning of low lying shrubs and the removal of lower tree limbs. Hopefully this will address resident concerns and meet Council’s requirements.
If Council’s standards have not been met at the end of stage 1, stage 2 will see the removal of every second tree.
If this still does not meet Council’s requirements, there will be a total replanting of suitable plants to ensure a clear line of sight.
Stockland has informed BeCA the first stage of the new footpath to be built will be the section from the Bellcarra Roundabout bus stop down to the “Bunnings Link Pathway”. Children currently leave the bus and cross a busy Bellvista Blvd near the bus stop during school pick up times to access their homes in nearby streets. With the new pathway children will be able to walk via clear pathways down to the foot of the hill where it is safer to cross. Work is expected to be completed by December.
Finally a reminder about tomorrow evening’s Mark McArdle’s Caloundra Rd Traffic Forum, Tuesday, 18th October, CCSA Hall, 1 Nutley St, Caloundra 6-8pm. BeCA will be in attendance as well as representatives from the Department of Main Roads and Stockland.
Finally, if you have other “Line of Sight” concerns, use the MyCouncil website to lodge a service request. You will receive an email back with a reference number. In due course you may even receive a phone call for further information or to let you know the work has been completed. If your problem is still not been addressed, BeCA may be able to take up your concerns on your behalf.
