I have some Jam Melon (Citron Melons) seedlings to give away if you’d like them they are next to my letterbox at 23 St. Helena Street, Lt. Mountain.
They are not widely known these days but mostly grew wild in Farming areas. Aerial weed spraying has eradicated most of the plants so the fruit is no longer available like it used to be.
Jam Melons are used for making Melon & Lemon or Melon & Ginger Jam. They are not edible like Water Melon as they taste quite bland or occasionally slightly bitter.
The pulp is traditionally soaked overnight then cooked into jam the following day.
To pick up – turn off Caloundra Rd into Stradbroke Drive and turn left into Mark Road then turn immediate right into St. Helena.
There’s a big caravan in our driveway & another in the front yard.
Hope they may be of use to you!
Thanks
Gaie
