Becker Helicopters has informed BeCA of some proposed modification to their operations following on from BeCA’s concerns. Becker Helicopters will attempt to provide some form of resolution and ease the burden on the Bellvista Estate community.
Becker Helicopters will continue to use the Caloundra Airport whilst conforming to the stated rules and regulations they are required to abide by. Becker Helicopters need time to work through a number of options and strategies which support not only the legal requirements but also the safety requirements. With this in mind Becker Helicopters has sat down with their staff and managers and have started to implement some strategies to help ease the noise situation. All of their crews have been informed to keep the number of aircraft down to a minimum ‘subject to availability of airspace in other locations such as Teewah airfield, Gympie Airport, the Sunshine Coast Airport and other surrounding locations’.
Becker helicopters have also instructed their staff not to practise low level circuit approaches over the estate. Staff have been requested to push the aimpoint for runway 12 (the Caloundra East-West runway with an approach directly over the estate) further ‘into’ the airport. They intend using the other runways at Caloundra Airport whenever possible.
This does not mean Becker Helicopters will not use runway 12 but that they will endeavour to do their best to minimise its use and therefore minimise flights over Bellvista Homes.
