Mike Becker of Becker Helicopters (photo left) was called to a meeting with Council late Thursday afternoon to discuss the noise issue caused by Becker Helicopters at Caloundra Aerodrome.
It appears that SC Council is pursuing a range of options to secure a piece of land for a Satellite Helicopter Training Facility. Council have started dialogue with the relevant stakeholders and they are also engaging the State Government.
A solution cannot come quickly enough for all involved.
Mike Becker said “Short term we will continue our current activity but this will reduce significantly after February 14th as our current training cycle moves into navigation.” This will be a major relief for all locals when the Feb 14th date arrives.
Yesterday BeCA was approached to appear on the WIN Local News for their coverage of the Airport Noise problem. An audio clip is available of the news item. Speaking in this audio clip are WIN News’ Reporter Jordan Koster, BeCA President Les Thomas, BeCA Treasurer Ian Eather, Becker Helicopter’s Mike Becker and Division 1 Councillor Rick Baberowski. You can download the audio clip HERE.
BeCA has been pushing both the State Government and SC Airport for more than two years on this issue to create a Satellite Helicopter Training Facility.. It was BeCA (and other local stakeholders) which ensured the facility was a recommendation of the recent Caloundra Aerodrome Master Plan. Our first web post on this issue appeared in November 2011 (HERE).
