BeCA will continue to monitor Fire Trail protection measures along Bellvista’s northern boundary. Following representation from BeCA, Council has now widened the fire break to between 6 and 7 metres providing better protection to homes.
Recent planned burns to remove possible fire fuel in an area along the “Bunnings Footpath” was postponed on at least two occasions over September owing to windy weather. Authorities have until early December to complete this task so residents need to be aware a Fire Burn may still occur until that time. BeCA will announce any proposed burn on its Facebook page.
BeCA will contact Council to confirm contact details for the new Baringa Community Centre currently under construction.
BeCA has been contacted by the office of Federal Parliamentary Member Andrew Wallace. Federal Government funds are about to be released to fund the construction of mobile phone towers in identified blackspot areas. Andrew Wallace has nominated Caloundra West and Aura as two areas for consideration for this funding with BeCA nominated as the applicant on the submission. Recent problems with local mobile phone reception has led to local businesses suffering financially and has put public safety at risk.
A mobile phone tower is currently planned for Baringa. It is expected to be completed ‘shortly’. BeCA has no definite details of any completion date.
