BeCA representatives took up the invitation given by Stockland for a tour of the Bells Reach development site and the “Haul Road”. Initial impressions are over the whole size of the development. It is over half the size of the Bellvista Estate.
Roads are being formed and the lay out is almost in place. The photo to the left shows where some of the first home sites may be for sale. Stockland has created several settling ponds to allow silt etc to sink to the bottom and thus preserve wetlands further downstream.

Stockland hope to have the display village at Bells Reach under construction by April or May 2012.
The “Haul” road is a single lane heavy duty dirt road providing access to the site from near the bus terminus in the new Caloundra Industrial Estate. Noise monitoring is in place near some Little Mountain homes to ensure noise levels are kept within required standards. There are numerous parking bays to allow large vehicles to pass and UHF radio is used extensively so vehicles can regularly update their position and keep other drivers up to date on where they are especially if passing an ongoing truck is required.
The photo below left shows the Haul Road and some of the traffic using it.
Lamerough Creek is crossed by a ‘temporary bridge’ seen in the photo below right.
Each vehicle departing the Haul Road then passes through a cleaning ‘dip’ to wash off any excess mud.
To complete the tour BeCA was shown the northern extremity of the development. This photo would be approximately where a ‘back fence’ of a home would be in relation to the Caloundra Airport east-west runway.
The ‘bank of soil’ visible in the larger version of this photo is the continuation of the waterway which crosses Bellvista Blvd just to the north of the roundabout with Dumbarton Avenue. Other sound proofing structures will be put in place in an attempt to keep aircraft noise away from these homes.
Stockland will provide further information for residents either at an upcoming BeCA Public Meeting (early March 2012) or possibly at a specially convened meeting in the ‘new’ Land Sales Office. The venue and time of this Information Meeting has yet to be confirmed.
BeCA thanks Stockland for the opportunity to tour the site and make photos available for the information of residents.

The photos below show (top left) the Caloundra South site which is much larger than Bells Reach while the other three photos were taken along the “Haul Rd”.
