At last night’s Management Meeting, some time was spent bringing all members in attendance up to date with recent happenings, most of which have already been mentioned on the website.
The Committee officially farewelled fellow member Yuki Worsch Smith who has been monitoring the BeCA Facebook page and has been a strong advocate of views for younger residents. Her input will be sorely missed as she, her husband and young family move residence to a larger home in Buderim. BeCA continues to seek a replacement on the Committee for Yuki, especially someone who would be a strong advocate for the views of younger families. Former BeCA Secretary and Facebook fan Tony Mohr will take on overseeing our presence on Facebook. You can visit the BeCA Facebook page by clicking on the Facebook link at the foot of this page.
The condition of Bellvista Blvd continues to concern the Management Committee and residents. Following a lengthy phone discussion with Cr Baberowski, it has been decided to carefully monitor the prevalence of potholes along the road. Then when potholes do occur BeCA will also monitor the length of time it takes for their repair. When armed with this information BeCA will be in a position to mount a stronger case for an upgrade. BeCA will also monitor the overall condition of road surfaces, noting the appearance of ‘crocodile’ cracks, a sure sign that water is collecting below the road surface, causing it to eventually break up and create potholes.
Committee member Bob Smith had a discussion with Council workers who were inspecting Bellvista’s lake system. It needs a major cleanup, especially the weeds at the southern edge of the system. When cleaned, it would create a more effective natural filtration system for storm water before it enters local creeks and eventually makes its way into Pumicestone Passage. This work could happen sooner rather than later.
On the proposed Community Facility, BeCA has been asked to seek feedback from residents on what purposes and facilities prospective users would require. Responses are already being collected via the Facebook page, (HERE), and via the Newsletter due for distribution in a week or so. Feedback/Suggestion Forms will also be available at the Annual General Meeting to be held on August 5th. Suggestions can be forwarded by email HERE (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by phone 0498266059.
Gateway Care is doing the printing for the BeCA Trade Directory which will be delivered to all homes when completed. The document is in their hands now. We are pleased to inform residents that all spaces have now been ‘taken’.
The soon to be distributed June Newsletter will focus on the upcoming AGM on August 5th. We urgently need another member to take the place of Yuki Worsch Smith. Nomination forms will be available in upcoming newsletter or HERE. There will be speakers at the AGM from Council who are heavily involved with negotiations with Stockland on the building itself as well as any upgrade which is required. We will also have speakers from Stockland with updates on progress with Caloundra South and any expected improvements to access to and from this estate.
