There was not a lot of topical discussion points at this meeting, but more a roundup of recent events.
The following points were noted:
Bells Reach continues to develop at an amazing rate. The new section of the estate named “Arbour” already sees around 10 concrete slabs laid and several house frames completed. See the photo below left.
The Bus Service now includes Bells Reach and there is even a stop at the entry to the new “Arbour” development.
Concern was raised regarding some traffic illegally turning right out of Indigo Rd into Bellvista Blvd. The Caloundra Police will be informed of this behaviour.
It appears there is a response to numerous requests from BeCA and residents regarding overnight ‘hoon’ behaviour around our estates.

The newsletter is held up by a few days and deliverers will be requested to deliver them at their earliest convenience when they become available. There are important dates to be considered, the public tours of Halls Creek (click HERE) and the upcoming BeCA Public Meeting in the new Community Meeting Place (CMP).
BeCA has declined a request from SCEC (Sunshine Coast Environmental Committee) to participate in discussions relating to Halls Creek.
BeCA Management Committee members have received invitations from Stockland to the official handing over of the refurbished Land Sales Office to SC Council as a Community Meeting Place on Friday August 29th. BeCA remains ‘in the dark’ on the final inclusions for the new centre despite requests to Council for information. SC Council will arrange for a Management Team to manage the new facility. BeCA expects that who ever wins the Management rights, that access to the facility will be shared across the community and that not just have one group dominates its usage over others.
LGM, the SC Council mowing sub-contractors have again descended on the estate doing a marvellous job on various parklands across Bellvista. Stockland’s Peter Hayes gardening team looks after all the park areas at Bells Reach. The Bellvista Gardening Team will continue to focus on weeds, mulching and general maintenance.
Bells Reach resident Jeff Adams was elected to the BeCA Newsletter Sub-Committee. There are now two Bells Reach residents involved with the BeCA Management Committee.
Did you know that an ADSL internet connection is still hard to come by in some areas of Bellvista? One resident is unable to connect to an ADSL service owing to a lack of available ports. One expects the situation may not improve as Telstra now has little interest in expanding its service when the national Broadband Network is being constructed. The two bells Reach members on the committee were amazed that when Bells Reach was connected to the NBN, that Bellvista wasn’t connected as well!
As springtime approaches, drivers are requested to take extra care around the estates as ducks and their ducklings cross the road. One anxious resident has even posted signs along Dumbarton Drive imploring drivers to slow down and take care. Last year a speeding motorist collected a whole family of ducks as they were crossing Dumbarton Drive. There were many concerned residents following the incident and a very unpopular car driver!
Finally arrangements were made for the upcoming BeCA Public Meeting to be conducted in the new Community Meeting Place (CMP) at 6:45 pm on Monday September 1st. This is a ‘public’ meeting and all are invited to attend. Our local MP Mark McArdle will be addressing the meeting, hopefully with an announcement that a Satellite Helicopter Training Facility has been completed.
Mr McArdle will also have other issues to speak on including the Halls Creek development.
Cr Baberowski will also be in attendance bringing us all up to date on Council issues affecting residents.
There will be tea, coffee and some light food for those who wish to stay after the meeting to pursue personal topics with our speakers.
Our final Public Meeting for 2014 will be conducted on Monday Nov 3rd with Mayor Jamieson and Kevin Hegarty. Kevin Hegarty is the Chief Executive for the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service and will provide an update on the Sunshine Coast Public University Hospital. This meeting will begin at 6:00pm. It will also be the BeCA AGM.
