The BeCA website has been ‘down’ for a couple of days but seems to be back again now.
On Tuesday BeCA met with SC Council Representatives to discuss any updates on the “Bellvista Meeting Place” (BMP). BeCA wanted a name which more accommodate both Bellvista and Bells Reach. A suggestion was put forward it be named “Bells” but with B.E.L.L.S being a prospective Manager of the facility, Council decided to stick with the immediate area’s name. So it is the Meeting Place at Bellvista.
Though not being as we were first told it may be, costs restricted what could be done during the building’s refurbishment. It was discovered the facility was in really poor structural condition and funds only stretched as far as making the building a safe facility for the next 10 years.
The BMP will be handed over to Council at a ceremony by invitation only at 5pm on Friday August 29th. BeCA will be putting its 60 or so chairs back on Thursday and still more bits and pieces will find their way into the facility. Fridges, tables, cutlery, electric kettles, crockery etc will find be supplied by Stockland and Council.
A downside of SCC taking over the area will be that the night lighting on the adjacent tennis court will be disconnected. BeCA will liaise with our Councillor to see if a user pays system can be implemented.
The BMP facility will be available for hire as of next week. Bookings etc will be able to be made when BeCA receives the relevant information.
A Management Group is to be appointed. This could take anything from 2 weeks to 2 months to complete.
The first ‘Official” event to be held at the new Bellvista Meeting Place will be on on Monday September 1st at 6:45pm. It will be the September BeCA Public Meeting and everyone is welcome to attend!
Our first major speaker at the BMP will be local Member of Parliament, Mark McArdle. We are hopeful Mark has some further news on a Satellite Helicopter Training Facility!
All are invited. There will be tea and coffee after the meeting for those wishing to stay.
Cr Babarowski will also be in attendance. Cr Baberowski has been a major player in the creation of the Bellvista Meeting Place.
We hope to see as many people as possible attend this inaugural meeting at the new facility.
